Late night with Jack

Why is it when you are craving a particular food that you can never seem to get it? I was pondering this very thing last night, or rather this morning, at 1 a.m. when I got off of work. I walked to my car after work and had this incredible craving for an In-N-Out burger. Or a McDonalds Big n' Tasty. Whichever one was available. And actually my craving had started about 30 minutes before I got of work, so basically I ran to my car AS FAST AS POSSIBLE to see if I could make it to either place before they closed.

As I was driving, I passed by a Carl's Jr. and a Jack-in-the-Box, both of which were still open. I became more excited about getting my In-N-Out/McDonald's burger as I passed by because I just KNEW that one of MY places would still be open and that I wouldn't have to degrade myself by eating a Carl or a Jack. As I pull up to In-N-Out first, I had a sinking feeling that it was closed due to its dim lights. As I neared closer, I found that my gut feeling was, indeed, correct. As I grudgingly pulled out of its parking lot I began my journey towards McDonald's, still sure that it would be open since what McDonald's isn't 24 hours? But again to my dismay, I could see no bright yellow and red lights as I neared my destination. My first thought was that I had gone the wrong way since McDonald's HAD to be open! And yet, I was not too tired to realize that I was at the right place, AT THE WRONG TIME!

So as I headed out of the parking lot, I decided that by my searching for food, my craving for a burger had only increased, so I headed backwards towards Jack-in-the-Box and yes, actually ordered a Jumbo Jack. As I sat in my car savoring the *fresh* taste of a Jumbo Jack (I couldn't wait to get home), I realized that it wasn't so bad after all. In fact, if I keep getting late shifts and burning burger cravings, I have a feeling that Jack and I are going to become very close. Maybe midnight snack buddies. Although next time, I hope it doesn't take me 30 minutes to find him!

Anyway, I leave you with two things: NEVER BE AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME; you will walk away (or drive away) disappointed! The second thing is that Jack's happens to be open 24 hours. At least the one nearest to me is!
