2005 in Retrospective

So I don't usually reflect over my last year as a new one approaches mostly because the days, weeks, months, and years all seem to blend together as I get older. But this year as I made my flight "home" for New Year's in Oceanside/San Diego, I though about how much I got to do in just one year.

I met my favorite person in the ENTIRE world (Donna Lasit). She is my role model and has made a lasting impression on my life. I FINALLY started driving.I got my first "real job". I graduated. I went to Hawaii again for the first time in something like 12 years. I went to the best Generation-Unleashed Conference and Launch Camp EVER! I finally visited The City Church Seattle in Washington. I became friends with more people in XG this year than all my other bazillion combined together since I've been at Harvest. I finally got to see a radical church service on a college campus. I've moved up a notch with technology and got a blog. I've made life-long and "best friends" at The City Church San Diego. And finally, the best thing I did by far in 2005 was to become an intern at The City Church.

As an intern, I have become the kind of person I never knew I could be. I won't go too in depth about it because most of you have heard it, but my ENTIRE perspective on the Word, worship, prayer, serving the church, tithing & giving, obedience*, faith, and love has been transformed. I can't ever go back. I've finally moved out of what's comfortable and it is impossible for me to ever be the same. Even the way I view people has come back to the simple principle of "loving your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:39) Who knew there could be complete fulfillment and peace in being obedient to the voice of God and serving Him with my very best? Though there have definitely been difficult, sometimes stressful, and seemingly impossible moments in this internship, I know great change has come from moments like those. And, I am truly savoring every one of them!

As my new year has begun, I can only look forward to greater things. I've got high expectations on what God is going to do in my life, in Concord, and in San Diego this year! And I believe that interns is truly helping me to start my year "right". Happy New Year! (plus 4 days......)
