Ordinary Route, Extraordinary Results

Tonight has given me a whole new reason to be thankful for my life. Life really is but a vapor and it is by His mercy that we all still live, and move , and have our being (all of it). Well friends, I sit here at the computer, ready to tell you just why I still live, I am moving, and I have my being (every part of it).

I headed home after GC tonight instead of going out to eat with 'everyone else'. I was by myself (I THANK GOD NOW!) making my usual route toward home. By the time I hit the 78, I decided I wanted to take the back roads home, which meant I was to get off the freeway earlier than usual. I noticed a lot of people speeding on my right, so I tried staying out of their way by being in the left lane. I knew my exit was coming up even though I didn't see its sign yet. I planned on getting over two lanes to end up in the exit lane.

Suddenly, some car (literally from nowhere, except I saw him almost too late) starts to move into the center lane at the same time as me. Well being a new, less experienced driver, I jerked my car back towards the left lane, while slamming my brakes. Now reflecting, slamming the brakes probably wasn't the best idea, however it was my first reaction. Well, my car started swerving, skidding, and spinning across the freeway in a span of about ten seconds. Of course I screamed all the way through this as I couldn't help seeing all the worst possible scenarios flashing through my head. Somehow my car stopped horizontally across all three lanes after all the swerving. As I looked through my passenger side window, I saw a whole fleet of cars coming towards me. I swear there were angels surrounding my car, because all three lanes stopped at a safe distance from my car to avoid hitting me. When I confirmed that all the cars had stopped, I pulled off to the right side of the freeway where I had a few minutes to reflect on the magnitude of what I'd just been through.

I got home safely to find that I hadn't caused or been in an accident, I didn't have any injuries, my car seems to be in fine working order, and best of all I was still alive (ok, so duh!). Now I sit here typing this experience for you all to read while trying to digest my smoothie juice. It's the thickest drink I have and I hope it helps me sleep! But goodness, how great is our God! I just took my ordinary route home, but I ended up with exraordinary results---I'm still alive and my car is fine. Now don't get me wrong, I was freaked out during this, but as I sat and thought about this, I realized just how much mercy He has towards me. I don't know how I ended up without a scratch, my car without a dent, and no injuring accident, except by His grace and mercy. He took an ordinary route home and turned it into an extraordianry testimony. I don't know how many people are still alive to tell a story like this one, but I am so THANKFUL to say that I am!

"I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, therfore I will call upon Him as long as I live.......Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; Yes, our God is merciful! The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me!"

As if I needed another reason to worry about you! I really though Oakland driving is the worst, but now I see I am wrong. Anyways, I am glad you are okay, and I thank God for you (I would even if that never happened anyways). I love you and miss you A LOT and can't wait for you to get home.
