My Birthday

Every year it gets better! This year it started with prayer and what a better way, huh? I woke up at 2:00 am to participate in the 24/7 prayer week. I was awakened by a phone call from sleepy Danielle telling me it was my turn to pray. I finished my prayer time and I actually forgot to call Deanna! [Sorry friend =( ] It was her turn next, but I have a feeling that she got up and prayed anyway.

Anyway, I slept until 8:00 am when I was awakened by a phone call from my little brother, Ethan and my mom. We talked for awhile and then we hung up so I could sleep again. A few minutes later I got a call from my BESTEST BESTEST BESTEST friend, Jessica. She woke up just to say happy birthday to me! That's why she's my BESTEST. I opened the most awesomest present from her while we talked. (She had it mailed.) If you wanna see it, you have to come visit me at my house. Seriously---it's the best. I wish I had a camera to post pictures on here. They would be SWEET!

I went to work after that and they had me wear a "Birthday Girl" nametag. My co-worker, Ben, insisted on informing all the customers checking out that it was my birthday. I had flowers delivered to work from my family and they are B-E-A-UTIFUL! I had to leave them at the customer service desk since I didn't want them hiding in my locker. The girl working at the desk said they made her smile and am so glad someone else got to enjoy them. They smell really good and they are so big that they're hard to miss! I got birthday presents from a few of my co-workers and I love them all. I've lost track of how many "Happy Birthday's" I got from customers today. If everyday at work was my birthday I think that people *might* be nicer to me!

My biggest surprise today was what I got in the parking lot. Jynell and Laura decided to decorate my car at work. I went on my lunch break to find that my car was a covered in pictures, balloons, streamers, and lots of my little "sayings". Some of these "sayings" included: "I am a Friend of God", "Donna Lasit who?", "Let's wear black and brown together", and "You can't forget the interns of 2006." I was probably laughing for about 5 minutes before I even attempted to get into my car. Don't I have the best friends EVER? I'll bet you wish you had them too, but I am willing to share! Seriously, they are so thoughful and creative. I LOVE IT!

I was welcomed home by my door covered in wrapping paper and decorated with streamers and balloons. This was compliments of my housemates/flatmates, Brittne and Katie. Again I couldn't stop laughing at everything that was happening! After peeling back some of the wrapping paper, I crawled into my room and the interior was decorated with streamers too! My favorite part of this....my boyfriend now has a head. (Just wait for the pictures to develop!) It seems that every year I don't really mention my birthday and yet everyone always remembers and goes all out to make sure that no one forgets my birthday. By the end of May 22nd, you KNOW it has been Nahela's birthday! Every year it gets better and more and more people know about and celebrate it. I'm thinking that we should consider making it a national holiday. (We should start a petition.)

Thank you all who have called throughout the day (I think my mom has 6 more calls to make!) I loved the songs and I've saved them on my phone. And thank you for all the e-mails and cards. My day isn't even over yet, but I am quite thrilled with the result of my day. (I even made some money!) Thank you my beloved familia who took the time to individually call and sing to me. Thanks to Nicol-e-o, Charlatte, Peter Pan, Jynelly, Donna Jean Bean, Tope, Danielle, Kristi, Jo, Katie Roy, Sean, Lauralie, and Landscape (sorry if I spelled your name wrong!)....for being my bestest friends and the greatest leaders of all time. I won't ever forget the greatest birthday and year of my life. Thanks for celebrating with me. To my bestest friend in the world, Jessica. Your present ideas only get better and I love you for just remembering my birthday. To my extended family and friends. You are the greatest support to me and thank you for remembering my special day! Thank you Jesus for another year to shout your fame! And lastly, a Happy Birthday to my Uncle Bob, who I get to share my birthday with. Love you all!
