I have been delaying this post for a few weeks so I could save it for today. I told my mom I would write a blog about her and now I can finally fulfill that promise.
I love my mom. I know we all like to compare and say that our mom is the "greatest", the "best", the "hottest." But really, I don't think I'd ever describe mine as any of those things. To me, they aren't original and they generally describe....... every mom. No, my mom is unique. She's the apple of God's eye. She's the wife to my dad. She's the mom to me and my four brothers. She's the daughter of my grandparents. And she's the lover of life. She is, in essence, the most "awesome mother......like no other." (By the way, I actually bought her a card that said that last line!)
My mom is the one who never says "I can't" or "I don't know". She always has an answer for everything and if she doesn't, you can count on her to make one up or find one for you. It isn't always logical, believable, or good, but it is an answer. She makes things happen. She plans and budgets. She prepares and makes sure to always finish what she started. She has the best ideas.
For example, she took me on my first of many TP raids. I was horrible (just ask her), but over the years I have come to improve my skills because of her creative input. We've been partners in crime, to say the least. We've had some pretty good projects and never really been caught. She has continued this creative art even unto this year. Just a few weeks ago she went to my brother's dorm room and completely TP-ed his room for his birthday.
This doesn't begin to explain just how much she loves her family. While she has her fun side, she has a sacrificial side. She has flown on a plane for me on more than one occassion even though she hates flying. She has stayed up late to talk and pray with me even when she was tired. She has answered her phone practically every time I have called her since I moved to southern California. Not to mention all the times she has prayed for me in her secret place, bought me presents "just because", made me the best food on a weekly basis, and loved me unconditionally. She is my mom and I am so thankful for her.
We have had our share of fights and disagreements, but we have learned to love each other. We have become more than family; we've become friends. She has never let me down. She has never given up on me. She has been the friend that taught me about discipline, love, and faith. I could go on and on about her "awesomeness", but there isn't enough time or space. Just take my word for it that I have the most awesome mother like no other.
I love you mom. Happy Mother's Day!
