When the Change Runs Out
I discovered something interesting today. Something that made customers nervious (is there such a thing?) My register ran out of change today. Now this is a common occurance during my weekly shifts. Because we run up so much business, we are bound to need change "refilled" in the registers throughout the day. When I discovered this occurance I was in the middle of a transaction, so while finishing I simply asked the next customers if they were going to pay for their purchases with cash. Most answered with a "No" followed by a surprisingly worried expression on their faces. Seeing their looks, I had to explain that I was simply out of change and I could run any other transaction until my register was "refilled." I never thought that running out of change could be so interesting.
