Obviously, lots of things have changed for the fast food industry since then including prices, portions, and "quality" of the food. I guess I remember hamburgers tasting better than they do now, and prices were definitely cheaper with bigger portions. I know portions have been reduced due to "health problems" in the nation, but I hate the fact that it costs more to get smaller portions with all the same crappy ingredients. Still, McDonald's to me is a "treat". That is, until this last week.
After an awesome night at our youth service, I left to get some food. During the service, I realized that I hadn't eaten anything since 11 am that morning, and I was starving, so I decided to get food after. I started my journey to the nearest McDonald's since I knew it would be open. As I pulled into the drive-thru, I looked ahead and saw about 10 cars in front of me. I thought about leaving, but my gurgling stomach told me otherwise. After 10 minutes of waiting and not moving an inch, I decided to try for another McDonald's location that had a shorter line and faster service. (This first line had not moved the entire time I waited and about 5 other cars pulled in behind me before I decided to leave.) So I headed off to the next McDonald's, but ran into the same problem. There were 7 people in line when I pulled in, and more cars were lining up behind me. I waited here, but I could not stand to just sit and not move. This line moved one car ahead while I waited. Thus began my journey to the other side of town for yet another, and my third attempt. This third line was much better; two cars in front of me. I ordered and then had to wait at least another 7 minutes to get my food. This may not seem like a long time, but when you are starving, every minute is agony! Slighty annoyed, and even more hungry, I headed home to enjoy my food. Before I got there, I had already scarfed one cheeseburger and all my fries. I went to open my yummy 6-piece chicken nuggets, which I was craving, but instead found 6 fried cardboard-like lumps. They were so nasty looking, I took a picture with my phone before trying one.

Now this picture does not do the chicken nugget justice. It was so shriveled and hard. Gross!!!!!!!! I ended up throwing them away...couldn't even finish the bite I had taken! So I pretty much wasted about $7 plus an entire hour going between 3 McDonald's to fill my empty and starving stomach, only to go to sleep frustrated and hungry. I swear everyone and their MOM was at those drive-thru's! I have never seen so many cars that late at night waiting for their food. Maybe the workers were on strike for speedy service, because I spent more time waiting in line at each of those places than I did driving to get to all three locations. It was not good times. And this last picture explains it all.
Needless to say, I won't be going to a McDonald's anytime soon. It's definitely not worth my time or money!
